Why do we buy so many gadgets for our kitchens?
There are all sorts of gadgets available now to help save us time and effort in almost every area of our lives, and one that has more available than most is cooking. You can get hand blenders and automatic whisking machines, muffin makers, waffle makers, toasters which can also poach an egg, a device to give your food a smoky taste… and so many more. The question is, will we use any of them more than once?
Let’s face it, most gadgets are expensive, hard to clean up after use, and they rarely get used once the excitement dies down after about a week. When you are buying gadgets for the kitchen then you really need to think long and hard about what you choose and whether it is genuinely useful. Like a bread maker, it sounds like a great idea and the bread is delicious when you eat it straightaway, but you soon realize it is a lot of work for something you can buy from a supermarket. But if you like toast then a toaster which can cook your bread really quickly, and maybe fit different sized slices in, would get a lot of use. Something I think is really handy is an indoor electric turkey fryer (only if you cook a lot of turkeys though) because it stops you struggling to fit everything else in the oven around it like the sweet potatoes etc, which is a huge problem.
So there are gadgets out there that can make your life a lot easier, one of the easiest ways to find them is to ask your friends what gadgets they have and which they actually use on a regular basis, that saves you wasting money on the gimmicks as they already have!
